Fifa is one of the most enduring titles in gaming. It has a dedicated fan base and constantly tries to keep things fresh with each new release. Many detractors of the series will often claim the games are carbon copies of one another. But this just isn’t true. That being said, not every Fifa title was created equally.
But which Fifa games are the best? There have been so many variations over the years it can be hard to know which are winners and which aren’t. Luckily for you, I have been playing Fifa games for as long as I can remember. So here are my picks for the best-ever Fifa games.
Fifa 23
Now you might think I’ve put this one on the list just because it’s the latest entry in the series. But this isn’t the case at all. Fifa 23 is a standout title in the series that has added a slew of new features that are beyond welcome.Â
The game has a lot of technical improvements, such as better graphics and smoother animations, and it brings in crossplay. Now you can finally face off against your mates playing on a different console. Also, all the hacks and cheats for Fifa 23 can be used in private matches to help improve your skill level. This is useful for anyone hoping to move up the ranks in competitive play.Â
The game overhauled the penalty system and added a risk vs. reward shooting system into matches to encourage riskier playstyles. The game also features Ted Lasso, from the show of the same name, and his soccer team. So any fans of the show can step into Ted’s shoes in career mode.Â
Fifa 14
Fifa 14 was the first Fifa title to be released for the Xbox One and PS4 generation of consoles. And it reflected the sudden jump in technology fantastically well. The biggest change for Fifa 14 was the new game engine the developers used. Everything ran a lot smoother in this title than in its predecessors. And the graphics were a huge step up from its predecessor. While the Xbox 360 and PS3 titles don’t look bad for their time, it is surprising just how big a graphical leap was made between Fifa 13 and 14.
Fifa 14 added hundreds of new animations to the game, allowing players to execute more complex plays during the match. This also vastly improved the precision for lobs, slides, passes, and tackles.Â
Fifa 14 put a lot of effort into overhauling its skills. It added a new layer of complexity to the team’s system that gave players a far greater degree of control over their team design. It also made the ranked multiplayer far more interesting, as players had to really consider the best approach.Â
At its core, the dedication to the multiplayer experience is what made Fifa 14 one of the best Fifa titles of all time. It spared no expense in ensuring the player vs. player experience was engaging and rewarding.Â
